Grade 6: Jackel Robinson
Ms. Robinson’s unit, “Birds of a Feather Flock Together,” was written to utilize the numerous ornithology study skins on the BioAction Lab.

“One of my main goals was to make them aware of their environment and how we as people have different customs or things that we do. There is a pattern in their lives also. … They were immediately captured by the unit and began to ask questions… some of them were more observant than I thought they were… . They were making some comments about what they saw from one day to the next… I told them to write down anything they noticed…they actually enjoyed it! Everything that I needed for the lessons was there. … Out of all my subjects, science has always been the most difficult. … In the back of my mind…am I going to be able to do this?… Knowing I had the support and knowing where to find and get the materials…made me a lot more comfortable. So I have comfort level that I didn’t feel at the beginning.”
