Divisional Collections

The Division of Vertebrate Paleontology houses one of the most important vertebrate fossil collections in North America. The scope of these collections is worldwide and taxonomically broad. Some of the most important elements include:

• The Princeton University fossil vertebrate collection
• O.C. Marsh’s dinosaur collection
• North and South American tertiary mammals
• Mesozoic mammals
• Reptiles and toothed birds from the Niobrara Formation
• Fossil fish, tetrapods, and footprints from the Connecticut Valley

The Yale Peabody Museum’s collections are available to legitimate researchers for scholarly use. Loans are issued to responsible individuals at established institutions. Loans and access to the collection can be arranged through the Collections Manager.
