Yale Peabody Museum Collections Policies

The collections of the Peabody Museum of Natural History are available to legitimate researchers for scholarly use, and loans are issued to responsible individuals at established institutions. All loans are governed by the Museum’s loan policy.

Arrangements for loans and appointments for access to collections must be made in advance through the Collections Manager of the appropriate Division.

Requests to use images, text or data about the Yale Peabody Museum, its history and its collections in all cases, whether scholarly or commercial, must be submitted in writing. Scholarly publication or redistribution of collections catalog data and images on this website requires the written consent of the appropriate curatorial division. See our permissions page for contact information.
