Anthropology
ANNOUNCEMENT
March 21, 2008
Effective immediately
The Yale Peabody Museum’s Division of Anthropology reluctantly announces a temporary suspension of its external activities. During this period the Division will be unable to process loans or requests for images or data. Requests to visit the collections will be met on an as-feasible basis.
To discuss special needs, please contact Dr. Andrew Hill, Head Curator (andrew.hill@yale.edu) or Dr. Roger Colten, Senior Collections Manager (roger.colten@yale.edu).
This suspension is necessitated by the relocation of about three-quarters of our collections to Yale University’s new West Campus facilities. We anticipate that collections will be accessible when the move is completed, which is estimated to be in July 2009. Thank you for your patience.
The collections in the Division of Anthropology at the Yale Peabody Museum are stewarded by 4 curators, all of whom hold faculty appointments in Yale University’s Department of Anthropology. The Division also benefits from the active participation of 4 emeritus curators. One of the board of curators serves as director of the Division, overseeing administrative functions.
The Yale Peabody Museums collections are available to legitimate researchers for scholarly use. Loans are issued to responsible individuals at established institutions. Loans and access to the collection can be arranged through the Collections Manager.
